During our stay in cabana #10 at Lamanai Outpost Lodge in Belize, we were often very close to a family of black howler monkeys, sometimes as close as a few metres away. The male cries to announce his territory and to attract a female and can be heard several kilometres away - this one would cry during the day and also woke us up throughout the night a couple times, which was funny the first night, a bit tiresome after that. However, it was a special treat to watch the young ones scamper around and feed so close to us!
